News: Meet the Artist :: March 6, 2008
This event was a way of recognizing these 10 winners, and allowed the public to “Meet” them. Also, amid cookies and punch, the ballots were counted and the “People’s Choice” prize was awarded. The “People’s Choice” award went to Jerry Jones for his depiction of Colfax’s “Original City Hall.” “Super Wheat” by Ann Marra was 2nd runner-up, and “Golden Sunset” by Vicki Broeckel won 1st runner-up. Community members and area merchants contributed to The “People’s Choice” award, and, as he is a most gracious individual and all-around nice guy, Jerry donated his prize winnings back to the Colfax Arts Council, in hopes that it will give the Council a nice cushion for launching next year’s competition. So, we are proud to announce that we will be doing this again next year!! Get your application now for the 2009 Colfax arts Banner competition and be thinking of what you would like to paint on your banner. You just might be one of next year’s winners!!
Now, let's enjoy the lovely art banners hanging on the lamp posts of Main Street in Colfax, WA. Congratulations to the 2008 winners!!
